Some of the most popular manifestation advice can actually keep you stuck. I know because I spent years trying the trendy techniques, doing the affirmations, visualizing, and hoping that the next method would finally make everything click. Sometimes things did manifest, but much of the time I was left asking, “Why isn’t this working for me?”
Everything changed when I stopped treating manifestation as a way to force reality to give me what I wanted and started understanding it as a process of becoming. Today, I am living what I once considered my dream life: a purpose-led business, a loving long-term relationship, travel, creative freedom, and a life that does not require me to work endless hours.
If you want to manifest your dream life, the goal is not to become perfect at vision boards or positive thinking. It is to become a person who can receive, sustain, and genuinely enjoy the life you are calling in.

1. Manifestation Gives You What You Are Ready For
One of the biggest misconceptions about manifestation is that it is about making reality obey your desires. It is not. Often, life waits until you have become the version of yourself who can hold what you are asking for.
It is easy to look at someone who is a full-time content creator and think, “I want that.” But are you emotionally prepared for criticism? Every creator receives negative comments at some point. Do you want to write a bestselling book? Are you ready for the interviews, the book tours, and the pressure that can come with being more visible?
Rather than constantly asking, “Why isn’t it here yet?” ask a better question:
“Who do I need to become for this to feel normal in my life?”
Start developing the habits, mindset, and emotional stability your future life requires. If you want financial freedom, stop repeating that you are bad with money or that money is greedy. Learn to manage the money you have now. Treat it with gratitude and responsibility.
This is not about pretending you already have everything. It is about practicing the qualities that the future version of you would naturally embody. That is how you begin to manifest your dream life in a grounded way.
2. Action Is Spiritual
This is not talked about enough in spiritual spaces. We can love sitting on the couch, doing affirmations, visualizing, journaling, and making beautiful vision boards. But then, when it is time to do the difficult, vulnerable work, suddenly we tell ourselves we need to perfect one more thing first.
The truth is that procrastination is often perfectionism in disguise.
Inspired action is one of the most spiritual things you can do. Your intuition frequently becomes clearer after you begin moving, not before. You do not manifest by staring at a vision board. You manifest by becoming someone who acts on their vision.
Ask yourself what one small, imperfect action you can take this week toward your goal. It might be:
- Sending the email you have been avoiding.
- Posting the first video.
- Opening a savings account.
- Researching a course or opportunity.
- Having the honest conversation.
- Creating the first messy version of your offer.
You do not need a flawless plan. You need movement.
3. Help Your Nervous System Feel Safe With Success
You may consciously want success, love, visibility, money, or freedom. But if your nervous system experiences those things as unsafe, you can unconsciously avoid them.
If success feels dangerous, you may sabotage opportunities. If love feels unsafe, you may push away genuinely good people. If visibility feels threatening, you may keep procrastinating on posting, speaking, or sharing your work.
To manifest your dream life, your body needs to learn that the life you desire is safe to experience.
Visualize the Experience, Not Just the Result
Instead of only visualizing the final outcome, visualize yourself going through the motions. If you want to become a creator, imagine pressing record, speaking passionately about your message, publishing the video, and being seen. Do this regularly.
Focus on the ordinary actions that your future life requires. This makes the desire feel less like a distant fantasy and more familiar to your system.
Take Messy Action
Then reinforce that visualization through action. Every time you take an imperfect step, your nervous system gets evidence that you can survive the experience. It learns, “Okay, this is safe. I am not going to die.”
The more safe your body feels with receiving the life you want, the easier it becomes to allow it in.
4. Stop Trying to Control the How
This can be difficult, especially if you are a planner. I love a step-by-step plan and could happily make a ten-year plan, but life has rarely unfolded exactly as I expected it to.
The universe can deliver your desires through doors you would never have thought to open. Sometimes, losing an opportunity you desperately wanted makes space for something far more aligned.
I have seen this with a friend who repeatedly found herself leaving sales jobs despite deeply wanting to start a spiritual business as a psychic. She had the training but felt too scared to begin. At some point, the pain of constantly restarting in jobs that did not fit became greater than the fear of starting the business she truly wanted.
Be clear on your vision, intention, and goal. Make the vision board if it supports you. But remain open to the signs, synchronicities, conversations, and opportunities that arise along the way.
My own spiritual path began through a persistent feeling that I should explore ayahuasca plant medicine, at a time when I considered myself an atheist. Following that calling led to a spiritual awakening and set me on the path that eventually became my work, my brand, and my sense of purpose.
Your mind may not know the full route. Keep following the nudges that feel deeply aligned.
5. Alignment Does Not Mean Feeling Good All the Time
Social media can make it seem as though spiritual people are permanently calm, grateful, positive, and peaceful. Real life is not like that.
You can be deeply aligned and still feel fear. You can cry, have anxious days, feel uncertain, and doubt yourself. Alignment is not the absence of emotion. It is continuing to move toward your purpose despite your emotions.
Do not use a difficult feeling as proof that you are off track. Feel what you need to feel, support yourself, and keep taking the next honest step.
6. Your Calling Usually Unfolds Slowly
Most people expect purpose to arrive as one massive lightning-bolt moment. Sometimes it can feel clear, but more often it reveals itself gradually.
You follow one curiosity. That curiosity leads to an opportunity. The opportunity introduces you to a person. That person opens another door. Your purpose is usually not something you find all at once. It is something that is revealed through movement.
Staying completely still because you are afraid of making the wrong choice is one of the most limiting things you can do on a spiritual journey. How can new opportunities reach you if you never leave your comfort zone, meet new people, try new things, or allow yourself to learn?
There is a belief that the worst possible outcome is choosing wrongly, failing, or making a mistake. But life is for living and learning. What feels like a wrong turn can still teach you exactly what you need to know next.
7. Do Not Become Addicted to Manifesting Instead of Living
This was one of my biggest personal lessons. I have always been ambitious and focused on the next thing. When I had a nine-to-five job and felt unfulfilled, I thought becoming a digital nomad would complete my life. When I became a freelancer, I wanted to build a spiritual business. When that happened, there was another goal, then another.
It is so easy to keep postponing your happiness:
- “I will be happy when I earn more.”
- “I will be happy when I meet the love of my life.”
- “I will be happy when I move countries.”
- “I will be happy when I finally reach that next level.”
My partner and I knew we wanted to move away from England, and for years we took scouting trips to decide where we might settle. Because I thought we would leave eventually, I barely put effort into making friends where we were. I was always focused on the next chapter rather than fully living the current one.
Eventually, I realized we had no idea exactly when we would move. So why not be present now?
Manifestation should make you more present, not make you postpone your happiness. You can desire a bigger life while still loving the life you have today.
8. Guidance Often Arrives Through Ordinary Moments
It is easy to become obsessed with looking for angel numbers, feathers, miracles, or repeated signs like 11:11. Those things can be meaningful, but some of the most important guidance comes in far more ordinary ways.
It can arrive through:
- A conversation that stays with you.
- A random book recommendation.
- An unexpected invitation or opportunity.
- An idea that comes while walking in nature.
- A quiet inner knowing that is easy to overlook.
The universe often whispers more than it shouts. Pay attention to what keeps appearing naturally in your path, especially when it feels gentle, repeated, and meaningful.
9. Not Every Closed Door Is a Test
Sometimes a closed door is not an invitation to fight harder. Sometimes it is simply the wrong door.
You do not have to force every opportunity or prove your worth through struggle. Some things require perseverance, while others require surrender. The wisdom is learning the difference.
I experienced this when I was working at Google as a contractor. Near the end of my contract, I interviewed for a permanent role. Two interviewers said yes, but one did not, which meant I did not get the job. I felt crushed at the time.
But I also knew that the job was not truly my purpose and that I did not enjoy it. Soon afterward, I became a business owner, started The Spirit Nomad, ended my contract early, travelled to South America, and had the spiritual awakening that redirected my life.
Looking back, I am so grateful that permanent role did not work out. Sometimes the closed door is not asking you to push harder. It is redirecting you toward the life you are actually meant to create.
10. Becoming Matters More Than Receiving
External manifestations will come and go. A dream house, business milestone, relationship, audience size, or income goal can be beautiful, but none of them is the deepest reward.
When you finally manifest your dream life, you may not look back and think that receiving a particular thing was the greatest moment. More likely, you will look at yourself and recognize how much you have grown.
You will remember the courage it took to become more visible. You will remember learning to trust yourself, handle discomfort, make hard decisions, and stay open when life did not go to plan.
Enjoy the becoming. Enjoy meeting more of your higher self along the way.
11. The More You Serve, the Less You Chase
This completely changed my relationship with success. When I stopped obsessing over what I could get and started asking, “How can I help?”, everything felt lighter.
People can feel genuine intention. Opportunities naturally flow toward people who create real value. Service is not just good karma. It is one of the quickest ways to align with abundance because it shifts your energy from chasing to contributing.
A great business example is Alex Hormozi. He became widely known in part by creating enormous value through his book $100M Offers, which he initially made highly accessible. Regardless of whether someone sees their work as spiritual, the principle remains the same: lead with usefulness, solve real problems, and help people generously.
When you focus on how you can serve, you are no longer gripping so tightly to outcomes. You become someone who creates value, and that is a powerful place from which to manifest your dream life.
Manifest Your Dream Life by Living It One Step at a Time
You do not need to wait until you have the perfect mindset, the perfect plan, or complete certainty. You do not need to force every door open or spend your whole life chasing the next manifestation.
Get clear on what you desire. Build the qualities required to hold it. Make your nervous system feel safe. Take messy action. Follow the quiet nudges. Stay present enough to enjoy the life that is already here.
That is how you manifest your dream life: not by escaping your current reality, but by courageously becoming the person who is ready to live it.
